The Browser Menu

The browser menu allows you to view the current file from one of two or three browsers. The preferred browser is the browser you would prefer to use. It may be Netscape, Microsoft Explorer or any other browser. The first time you access this entry, the program will display a file open|save dialog and ask you to locate your browser. Simply find the exe file for your browser and double click on it. The default directory for the dialog is the Program Files directory. Normally you will find your browser here. I have refined the process a bit for Netscape and Explorer. If you select either of these entries in the browser menu, the dialog will start in the most frequently used directory for these programs. If you have chosen either Netscape or Explorer for your preferred browser, when you find your preferred browser the menu item for that browser will also be activated with a program address. If you update a browser Red Edit may not be able to find the new executable. If that is the case the program will ask you to show the location of the browser. If you have more than one browser and want to change the preferred browser, you can use the change preferred browser command to designate a new preferred browser. You may select a third browser to use. This may in fact be a different version of Netscape or Internet Explorer or a different browser such as Opera. Use the Set Other to set or change the third browser.

is the browser icon. It allows you to activate your preffered browser, and is equivalent to choosing the preferred browser from the Browser Menu.
